All pictures on this
pages illustrate the 'Canon G2 - Scopetronix Maxview 40 - Swarovski ATS 65 HD'-combo.
Main conclusions:
- (+)
The Scopetronix Maxview 40 eliminates vignetting completely.
- (+)
The Swaro-Maxview combo absorbs nearly no light at all. (In
the examples below, compare the shutter-speed/aperture values with, and without,
spotting scope.) This allows for taking pictures in windy weather and even
without using a tripod (!). Also, the remote shutter release (supplied with
the G2), is not really necessary.
- (-)
The Scopetronix Maxview 40 is a rather low-powered eyepiece.
Given the objective lens focal length (460mm) and the eyepiece focal length
(40mm), maginification should be around 11.5x. (460/40)(Thanks
to Dr Chan Kai Soon for pointing this out.). This is rather limited and it
would be interesting to test the effect of a Barlow lens or other long-eye-relief
eyepieces.
Test 1
This is the same subject
as on the 'binoculars'-page. This time, all
4mio pixels remain available.

Test 2
Now, let's focus
on the flags on the Harbour Bridge (about 2km away).
Test 3
In
the following test, I focus on the yellow bin and the gulls near the beach (about
400m away).
